I installed cucumber (0.7.2) on Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx); however, when I
attempted to invoke it, I received a message that the OS could not
find the executable.
I think I failed at first to install this gem using sudo. (I recall
seeing a message that gem failed to install cucumber in its expected
place because it could not write to it.)
I then uninstalled cucumber and reinstalled using sudo; however, I
received the same results.
Eventually, I needed to manually copy, using sudo, the file /var/lib/
gems/1.8/bin/cucumber to /usr/bin in order to invoke cucumber. After
this operation, I successfully invoked cucumber.
In addition, when I attempted to install cucumber, I was surprised that it required gherkin. I’m not that familiar with gem, but I thought it would automatically install dependencies instead of needing to manually install a dependency.
Thanks.
